Ambassador Kabwe calls for unity of purpose among Zambian Diasporas

ZAMBIA’s Ambassador to the Benelux group of countries and the European Union (EU) Mrs Grace Mutale Kabwe has called for a unity of purpose among Zambians in the diaspora, and urged them to seriously consider investing their resources back home.
During her first meeting with the Zambian community in the Benelux region on Saturday, Ambassador Kabwe said Zambians abroad were an important resource of knowledge and experience required to move the country forward.
She urged the diaspora community to always regard themselves as the images, voices, marketing agents, liaisons, ambassadors to local people in the Benelux region and entrepreneurs for Zambia.
The Ambassador said Zambia was in dire need of exposure to the outside world especially through its people living in many countries.
“Zambia is endowed with abundant business opportunities and time is now for you to make use of this and invest back home; your investment at home will help government in creating more jobs for many people and subsequently develop our country. Your positive contribution to Zambia could help alleviate poverty for our people. I would be very happy to see all of you invest your money or some of your savings in your country’s economy especially in long term investments. Zambia needs all of you to develop,” Ambassador Kabwe said.
The Ambassador further underscored the crucial role the Zambian community abroad could play in national development; and emphasised that their participation in the capital market and facilitating technological transfer would help stimulate industrial development and economic growth in Zambia.
Ambassador Kabwe also updated the Zambian community on a number of issues ranging from consular services offered by the Mission and further urged them to seriously take interest in registering with the Mission, saying that would help continuous update of records for Zambian living in the Benelux region.
And chairperson of the Pamodzi Association of Zambians in Belgium Anthony Chibuye expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for meeting them and assured her of total commitment of the Association towards contributing to the development of Zambia.
