GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES 8th NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN

On 1st September 2022, President Hakainde Hichilema launched the 8th National Development Plan for 2022-2026 with a call to all of us to support and internalise the document.

Under the theme “Socio-economic Transformation for Improved Livelihoods” we have launched an ambitious plan to put our country back into the path for accelerated economic recovery. This assures prosperity through job creation and social services for our people.

This is a homegrown economic development plan that will target higher economic growth trajectory, restrained fiscal deficit and enhanced domestic revenue mobilisation.

“We further target to contain inflation rate to within manageable levels, stabilise the exchange rate, maintain adequate international reserves, and spend more on the growth side of our economy.

Today’s launch of this economic transformation plan has coincided with the IMF board approval of our request for support towards our economic recovery plan which will allow us to invest in various sectors of our country.

This calls for hard work because what we do today effects our future generations. We appeal to our cooperating partners to come on board and join us in our fight to end poverty in our country”.
